Many smartshops from the Netherlands offer hallucinogenic truffles by mail order, informing customers that they can be shipped legally within the EU - because "something that is legal in one EU country is legal in any". This does not, in my opinion, comply with the letter of any law - but a lawyer speaks about it at the end of the article.
Magic truffles You can order and put yourself in a psychedelic state if they arrive at your address... Truffles are "psilocybin mushrooms"... except that they are not fruiting bodies. The fruiting bodies of magic mushrooms are banned in the Netherlands. What we call "magic truffles" are the sclerotia, or spore structures, of certain species of fungi, such as. Psilocybe tampanensis.
These truffles contain psilocybin, just like their above-ground versions, but differ in shape and texture. Magic truffles form when the fungus generates a compact, hard structure that accumulates nutrient reserves "for better times."
Psilocybin truffles - a scientific perspective
Psilocybin truffles, also known as magic truffles or truffles, are subterranean forms of certain species of mushrooms in the genus Psilocybe. Unlike traditional edible truffles (like the French black truffle), these are actually hardened mycelial clusters (sclerotia) that contain psychoactive substances: psilocybin and psilocin.
From a biological point of view, sclerotia are the survival form of a fungus, allowing it to survive unfavorable conditions. It contains stored nutrients and water.
The main active ingredients in psilocybin truffles:
- Psylocybin (4-PO-DMT).
- Psilocin (4-HO-DMT)
The effects of magic truffles have been studied in a medical context for the treatment of depression and PTSD in controlled clinical settings. However, it should be noted that their non-medical use is illegal in most countries and can be very dangerous.
It is worth noting that despite the similar name, psilocybin truffles are significantly different from the culinary valuable edible truffles, which are a completely different species of fungus.
